Antique 18kt gold Fenian Claddagh ring

Description

We are all familiar with the Claddagh ring , which is such a symbolic Irish fáinne (fáinne means ring in Irish). However a Fenian Claddagh ring, while they may have originated before the traditional Claddagh ring, are synonymous with the Fenian movement from 1850-1900 and particularly around Dublin. The removal of the crown was symbolic of the Fenians desire to be free of British rule.

An original Fenian Claddagh ring is a very rare thing, so much symbolism and history behind it and what a beautiful example of this.
